EMDR Consultation

Consultation

As an EMDR-trained clinician you have foundational skills and knowledge of EMDR therapy. You have successfully completed an intense training designed to prepare you to work with individuals with trauma. Many EMDRIA members and non-members, like you, in order to serve their clients better, are interested in furthering their proficiency and understanding of how to use EMDR beyond their initial training. Clinical consultation comes in many shapes, sizes, and formats. For the typical EMDR therapist, the two most recognized types of consultation are 1) the minimum ten hours required to earn a certificate of completion in EMDR therapy in their initial training and 2) the additional twenty hours of consultation needed to achieve EMDRIA certification. Consultation allows the clinician to build competency, confidence and proficiency.

As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, consultation is provided to EMDR trained clinicians who are working on their certification. Your consultant has participated in several advanced EMDRIA approved trainings that have enhanced the practice and experience of EMDR applications. In order to become EMDR certified with EMDRIA, EMDR trained clinicians are required to receive 20 hours of consultation from an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.
